Four investors from Israel have contacted the police with a complaint against a Greek Cypriot businessman. For non-fulfillment of the terms of the deal for 3 million euros.

In early September, an application was filed with the Larnaca police against a Greek Cypriot businessman. Four investors from Israel invested more than 3 million euros in a Cyprus real estate project, but the money was misused. According to Fileleftheros, we are talking about investigating cases of forgery of documents, obtaining funds by providing false information and money laundering.

According to the agreements of the two parties, a company was created for the implementation of the development project. She was supposed to purchase a piece of land and build a residential apartment complex on it. The money for the investment was initially placed in an Israeli bank in an escrow account, which is used for secure transactions in the real estate market under construction.

When the investor’s lawyer received, according to Alpha TV channel, supporting documents from the Larnaca Land Registry from a “well-known” Cypriot businessman, he unblocked the amount and sent the money to the Cypriot businessman. Soon he was alerted by the fact that he was not sent documents confirming the purchase of land for the project.

After a long wait for the document, a representative of Israeli investors arrived in Larnaca and conducted an audit with the help of a Cypriot law firm. It turned out that

10 documents on the purchase of real estate sent to Israel were fake,
in two cases, a Greek Cypriot businessman forged the signatures of Israeli investors,
in another case, a Cypriot businessman registered a real estate transaction/sale in the cadastre of the Republic of Cyprus, received a document, and then canceled the transaction, which excluded Israeli investors from the list of owners.

The Larnaca Police is working with the Land Registration Department of the Republic of Cyprus. They check not only the businessman, but also his two assistants who participated in the registration and implementation of the transaction.
