Russian schoolchildren have won six gold medals at the Open International Astronomical Olympiad

The competition was held from September 15 to 22 in the federal territory of Sirius and brought together representatives of 20 states. All members of the Russian national team won gold medals.

Awards of the highest standard were received:

Olga Karaseva, General Education School of the Center of Pedagogical Excellence, Moscow;

Egor Ledenev, Letovo School, Moscow;

Tatiana Migal, Lyceum of the city of Istra, Moscow region;

Dmitry Timofeev, General Education School of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence, Moscow;

Ekaterina Churkina, School No. 179, Moscow;

Mark Yakovlev, School No. 179, Moscow.

Ekaterina Churkina became the absolute winner of the Olympiad, scoring the highest number of points. She was also awarded the honorary title of “National Diamond”.

The Olympiad consisted of four rounds: theoretical, practical, observational and test. The students worked with tasks on the knowledge of the starry sky, analyzed scientific material – tables and graphs, made calculations and forecasts. In their free time from competitive tours, the guys got acquainted with famous scientists and cosmonauts.
