The first scientific and energy module (NEM) of the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) has already been created in metal. Electrical tests will take place in a year, said Vladimir Solovyov, General Designer of the Russian Federation for Manned Systems and Complexes, General Designer of the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia.
Currently, work is underway in Russia to create a Russian orbital station. According to the approved general schedule, the deployment of ROS in circumpolar orbit is expected in the period from 2027 to 2033.
NEM will be the first to go into orbit — its launch is scheduled for the end of 2027. It is also planned to launch universal node, gateway and base modules by 2030. Together with the NEM, they will form the core of the station. The second stage of the station’s deployment involves the expansion of the station by docking two target modules from 2031 to 2033.
