Border guards detained a 35-year-old woman at a railway checkpoint between Ukraine and Poland. She has been wanted by Interpol since 2020 for participating in an international organized crime group, according to Reuters.
According to the case file, Ksenia P. was a member of a criminal group that in 2017-2019 was engaged in the extraction and sale of human organs and tissues on the black market. The gang operated in a number of countries, including Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Thailand.
A woman has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in Kazakhstan for her involvement in illegal organ trafficking, including the sale of 56 kidneys. The reasons why she did not serve her sentence in Kazakhstan until she was detained in Poland are not specified.
