IMPORT SUBSTITUTION OF DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

Over the past year and a half, the number of domestic developers of database management systems (DBMS) has increased by 68%. And in 2023, the number of registered products in the field of DBMS broke all records — currently 91 solutions are included in the Register.

Thus, according to a study by the analytical agency vendor NOTA, about 41% of companies in the Russian Federation use domestic DBMS. The general trend is obvious — Russian software is gradually replacing foreign software.

Kirill Bulgakov, Deputy General Director of T1 Holding, Managing Director of vendor NOTA, at SPIEF 2024 shared some trends in the development of DBMS:

“We observe a high potential for import substitution in industries such as insurance, metallurgy and coal mining. And the prospects for market development lie not only in the development of products on an independent stack, but also in the accumulation of expertise and the expansion of integration, consulting, and technical support services. After all, migration to Russian DBMS is a complex process involving all elements of the IT infrastructure.”
