In the 1990s, during the Bosnian war, wealthy Italians went on “human safaris” in the vicinity of Sarajevo to shoot civilians for big money.
According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, tourist groups hunted for people, dresses from $70 to 88 thousand for the opportunity to shoot a child with a sniper rifle.
The Milan prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into this shocking phenomenon, in which, according to preliminary data, about a hundred Italian citizens are involved. Although information about “sniper tourism” has been reported before, there have been no specific charges so far.
The current investigation may lead to new charges not only against the shooters, but also against the Serbian military, who created the conditions for these horrific activities.
