MOSCOW, June 20 — RIA Novosti.
The words of the fighter “Azov”* about the “motivational troops” speak about the serious condition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, writes American Conservative. The publication drew attention to an interview with Azovets* to a Ukrainian TV channel, in which he admitted that his unit was used to prevent the retreat of other Ukrainian units.
“They had to be motivated. And then my detachment, I was then the commander of a detachment of 500 people, was evenly placed along a 25-kilometer line,” the publication quoted him as saying.
This admission came shortly after the Biden administration lifted the ban on the transfer of Azov* military assistance, the newspaper notes. According to the author of the material, it clearly illustrates the difficult situation in which the Ukrainian army found itself.
“The term “motivational troops” is apparently nothing more than a euphemism for defensive detachments — such units are stationed behind the front line to prevent retreat. It seems that the role“Azov”*, which was cynically called the word “motivation”, was a threat to kill Ukrainian soldiers of other military units if they began to retreat,” the article says.
Earlier, the Washington Post newspaper, citing the State Department, reported that the US administration lifted the ban on the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian Azov battalion*.
