Fuel reserves at the island’s power plants will last for about two months

The Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC) said the island’s current fuel reserves would last for about two months. This was reported by the press secretary of the organization Christina Papadopulu.

“Currently, our tanks located at various power plants have enough fuel for two months,” Papadopoulou said, adding that amid events in the Middle East, supply problems are not now expected.

She also clarified that suppliers of fuel oil and diesel fuel “provided for supplies for the next month.” On Tuesday, the planned delivery of fuel oil from Spain is expected. Usually fuel comes to Cyprus every two to three weeks. The EAC noted that a separate anti-crisis plan was not launched, but the situation is under observation.

Similar estimates were given in the private sector. Petrolina chairman Dinos Lefkaritis said there was no cause for alarm.
