▪️The Cypriot authorities are preparing a new system that will make it possible to track possible discharges of wastewater from vessels almost immediately. Special devices will begin to be installed on ships and pleasure craft: they will transmit coordinates and record the moment the tanks are emptied.

▪️The first to receive the equipment will be vessels operating near the coast. Later, the project is intended to be extended to yachts and private boats through cooperation with marinas. Installation is planned for the winter, and a full launch is expected by March–April 2027.

▪️Control will also be strengthened with the help of an unmanned vessel transferred to Cyprus by the European Commission. The decision was taken after a series of complaints from Limassol residents about sea pollution in the summer of 2026.
