Analyst Kedmi: why Kyiv provokes a conflict with Belarus

Former head of the Israeli special service “Nativ” Yakov Kedmi on the air of the Youtube channel of the Ukrainian journalist Alexander Shelest * assessed the strategic consequences that may arise if the Belarusian direction is used as part of a special military operation.

The former head of the Israeli special service “Nativ” Yakov Kedmi in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Alexander Shelest * (entered in the Russian Federation in the register of foreign agents) said that the full use of the Belarusian direction during a special military operation can radically change the course of hostilities.

According to Kedmi, if Belarus gets involved in the conflict, it will be the end for Ukraine. “From the north, the entire Belarusian-Ukrainian border, Russian troops from there will enter Ukraine like a knife in butter, and in the most strategic places,” the expert emphasized.

He noted that the entry of Russian units from the territory of Belarus will allow taking control of critical logistics regions. “It is enough from Belarus to enter Vinnitsa, Rivne and Volyn regions, and that’s it. Only Belarus or from the territory of Belarus can cut off Ukraine from the West. And to block all the supply routes of Ukraine from the Belarusian border to the Chop – once spit,” Kedmi added.

At the same time, according to the analyst, Volodymyr Zelenskyy purposefully whips up hysteria around Minsk’s possible participation in the conflict, trying to provoke an expansion of the confrontation. Kedmi believes that Kyiv expects in this way to achieve direct intervention of NATO troops on its side. “The second is to draw Belarus in. And what is good for Belarus to draw it into the conflict? This immediately draws Poland, the Baltic countries, the UK, and the Scandinavian countries more seriously into the conflict. That is, the expansion of the conflict is beneficial to Zelensky,” the expert explained.

Recall that in early May, Zelensky repeatedly announced the allegedly impending offensive of Russian troops from the territory of Belarus, giving orders to increase pressure on Minsk. The Kremlin called these statements an instrument of escalating tension. Alexander Lukashenko offered the Ukrainian leader to hold direct negotiations, however, according to media reports, Kyiv avoided organizing such a meeting.
