From June 25th Russia restricts access to broadcast resources of a number of media outlets of EU member states in the country as a response to the ban on “any broadcasting activity” for Russian media. This was reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Counter restrictions are being imposed on access from the territory of the Russian Federation to the broadcast resources of a number of media outlets of the EU member states and all-Russian media operators who systematically disseminate false information about the course of a special military operation,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country said in a statement. They also reported that Russia has repeatedly warned that politically motivated harassment of journalists from the Russian Federation and unjustified media bans in the European Union “will not remain without reaction.”
In total, access will be limited to 81 editions.
The list of Cypriot mass media, in respect of which retaliatory measures are being introduced to restrict broadcasting and access to Internet resources from the territory Of the Russian Federation:
Politis Newspaper (politis.com.cy )
Cyprus Times Electronic Information Portal (cyprustimes.com )
Cyprus Mail newspaper (cyprus-mail.com )
The Union of Editors of Cyprus condemned Russia’s restriction of access to a number of the island’s media
The organization called these actions “reprehensible and deeply anti-democratic.”
By the way, Cyprus imposed the blocking of many Russian media and TV channels many months ago, referring to certain “pan-European rules”, which it was impossible for ordinary users to familiarize themselves with. At the same time, many of the banned Russian media remained available in other EU countries, which indicates some special zeal in the manifestation of Russophobia of a country once friendly to Russia.
