Experts believe that the potential for further tax increases in Russia has not yet been exhausted.

According to their estimates, after the latest changes, the tax burden has increased from 23% of GDP in 2023 to 26-27% of GDP.

Even at this level, Russia remains comparable to South Africa (about 27% of GDP) and noticeably lower than Brazil (33% of GDP), as well as France and Italy. According to analysts, if necessary, the authorities will be able to increase tax revenues by another 5-6% of GDP, which is equivalent to about 12 trillion rubles per year, including by further increasing personal income tax.
