According to Bloomberg (citing three anonymous sources), after the United States abandoned the “spirit of Anchorage” (informal agreements reached in Alaska in August 2025), Russia tightened its position.

According to the agency, Moscow intends to preserve not only Donbass, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, but also controlled territories in Sumy and Kharkiv regions as buffer zones. At the same time, the Kremlin is now ruling out any withdrawal of the Russian Armed Forces from the occupied territories.

Experts note that such dynamics largely reflect Moscow’s assessment of the stability of the current lines of contact and the expectation of consolidating the prevailing military and political realities.
