▪️ In the second half of 2025, about 14,000 cases of payment fraud were recorded in Cyprus. Their number decreased by 5%, but the total damage increased by 16% and reached almost €3.7 million.

▪️ The largest losses are from bank transfers — about €2 million. On average, one fraudulent transfer in Cyprus amounted to €6,300, while in the eurozone it was about €1,800.

▪️ With cards the situation is different: 96% of fraudulent operations occurred online. Most often, the perpetrators convinced the person to transfer the money themselves to the account they needed.

🏦 The Central Bank notes: additional verification of the recipient and stronger authentication significantly reduce the risk of such schemes.
