so that Russians can exercise their right to vote and take part in the upcoming elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. This was reported to a TASS correspondent by the Russian Ambassador to Nicosia, Murat Zyazikov.

“At present, preparations are in full swing for holding elections of deputies to the State Duma on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. Voting on the island will be organised over three days — 18, 19 and 20 September. From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. four polling stations will operate in three Cypriot cities: two in Nicosia and one each in Limassol and Paphos,” the head of the Russian diplomatic mission informed.

According to him, in Nicosia the stations will be open at the Embassy of the Russian Federation, located in the capital’s Engomi district at the intersection of Ayios Prokopios and Archbishop Makarios III streets, as well as at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture at 16 Alasias Street.

In Limassol the station will be opened in the Melford Tower office building at 172 Archbishop Makarios III Avenue.

And finally, in Paphos the polling station will be located in office 101 of the ABC Business Centre, which is situated at 20 Charalambou Mouskou Street.

“We strive to ensure that Russian citizens in Cyprus can themselves easily choose the most convenient time and place for voting. Therefore we try to inform our numerous compatriots on the island as clearly as possible about the voting procedure in the Duma elections, the exact locations of the polling stations, and the working hours of the latter. Naturally, we pay special attention to security issues and maintain close contacts with the Cypriot law-enforcement agencies and local authorities in general in order to ensure a calm and organised course of voting in comfortable conditions for the voters. The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, called the upcoming elections to the State Duma ‘the most important domestic political event of the country’, and we are convinced that the more than 150-thousand-strong and exceptionally patriotically minded diaspora of Russian compatriots in Cyprus regards the forthcoming elections exactly as our national leader characterised them,” declared Murat Zyazikov.
