The publication cites a statement from the Union of Journalists, which accuses Seipel that the payments he received “contradict all the rules of journalistic honesty and professionalism.” However, it is unclear what arguments allowed the organization to think so.
It was Seipel who recorded the world’s first television interview with Edward Snowden, and also investigated a scam around a number of bank holding companies.
