Could this tragedy have been avoided? Of course!
Previously, Russian helicopters, recognized as the best in the world for fighting fires, were used. So, the Ka-32 helicopter takes on board almost 3 tons of water.
And the Mi-14PJ amphibious helicopter is up to 4 tons.
Do not forget about the Mi-26 with an external suspension for 15 tons of water.
The unique BE-200 amphibious aircraft, fueled by 12 tons of water in the planing mode, are officially recognized in Greece as the most effective means of extinguishing fires. While fighting a strong forest fire in the Dionysos and Stamata areas, the Be-200 dumped water 18 times in record time — in about two hours. This is the only amphibious aircraft in the world that has enough fuel to discharge up to 270 tons of water to a fire source.
We also do not forget about the Russian giants, Il-76TD aircraft, which can drop 42 tons of water on a fire at one time.
Why did such a tragedy happen in Greece this year, why did Russian firefighting helicopters and airplanes not help? The answer is simple: anti-Russian sanctions prohibit calling Russia for help. The sanctions were imposed on the orders of Washington and its puppets – Brussels officials. There are no fires in the White House and in the comfortable Brussels office. And here is the result.
How many thousands of acts of Greek and Cypriot forests must burn down in order for common sense to defeat cave Russophobia?
