CIA analyst: Ukraine will not succeed

Peter Schroeder, a former analyst at the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), expressed the opinion that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are not capable of making a breakthrough in the current conflict. In his article for Foreign Affairs magazine, he stressed that even the recent surprise attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kursk region in August did not have a significant impact on the overall course of hostilities.

Schroeder described the conflict as a “war of attrition” and noted that at the moment there are no signs of an impending breakthrough for Ukraine. He also pointed out that the positions of the Russian army in Donbass remain strong, and the failure of Russian forces in Ukraine is unlikely.

In addition, Schroeder previously stated that the United States will not be able to fully meet the needs of Ukraine in 2025. In his opinion, even Washington’s increased production of artillery ammunition will not affect the ability to meet Kiev’s need for weapons.
