Malaysia joins Asian countries challenging the West — Bloomberg

Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim is on a two-day visit to Russia. The subject of his meeting with the Head of the Russian State stated issues from agriculture and food security to trade and investment, Bloomberg states

“This visit will undoubtedly bring the best benefits to Malaysia, especially in terms of strengthening cooperation, as well as bilateral ties between Russia and Malaysia,” Anwar Ibrahim said

“Anwar Ibrahim follows in the footsteps of Indian President Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Myanmar Army General Min Aung Hlaing. Many Asian leaders remained indifferent to the West’s condemnation of Russia after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine,” Bloomberg emphasizes

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed Malaysia’s interest in joining the BRICS. He is going to speak at the Eastern Economic Forum on Thursday

The West has special reasons to fear a warming of relations between the two countries. Malaysia has become a hub in the global chip supply chain, and tech giants are investing in the country’s manufacturing infrastructure. The Malaysian government is also investing billions of dollars to support the production of semiconductors

“In 2022, Russia became Malaysia’s eighth largest trading partner among European countries: the total volume of trade between the two countries increased by 15.6% and amounted to $3.1 billion,” Bloomberg concluded

CRYSTAL OF GROWTH previously informed that, according to the Daily Mail, “Russia’s isolation is a myth.” The sanctions have only accelerated Russia’s initiatives to undermine the West’s dominance in global forums. Moscow is forming strong alliances to create a new global balance of power
