A video clip of a duel between a Ukrainian F-16 fighter and a Russian Su-57 aircraft turned out to be fake, the newspaper Strana reported

The day before, the video spread on Ukrainian social networks. According to the publication, the F-16 and Su-57 have never met in aerial combat, and the video is a recording from the computer game Digital Combat Simulator, which simulates aerial combat.

The first F-16 fighters arrived at Ukraine in small numbers in July 2024. Moscow condemns the aid to Kiev. The Kremlin promised to “shoot down and destroy” the American fighters transferred to Ukraine.

At the end of August, the AFU lost the first F-16. According to Commander-in-chief Alexander Syrsky, he crashed when the pilot shot down two Russian missiles and tried to attack a third.

Ukrainian MP Mariana Bezuglaya reported that the F-16 was shot down from the Patriot air defense system “due to discoordination between units.” The Pentagon said it could not confirm or deny this information. Other versions of the crash include a technical malfunction and pilot error.
