The European Statistical Service (Eurostat) has published data on the number of years of healthy life of citizens of 27 EU countries. The average results for the EU are 62.8 years for women and 62.4 for men. Cypriots took fifth place (65.7), and Cypriots (66.3) — seventh.
Life expectancy for women in the EU is on average 5.4 years longer than for men (83.3 versus 77.9). Healthy years, free from life restrictions, account for 75% and 80%, respectively. That is, men spend most of their shorter lives without serious health problems.
Malta topped both rankings: women and men live on this island for 70.3 and 70.1 healthy years, respectively.
Latvia is recognized as an outsider: men took the last place with a result of 53 years of healthy life, and women — the penultimate (55.4).
