He was wounded, lost 37 kg, broke through the encirclement alone: the Russian fighter held a particularly important position for 62 days.
An attack aircraft from the Chelyabinsk region with the call sign Zhappas went on this mission on April 19 this year with five colleagues. Soldiers of the 150th Division of the Southern Group of Forces had to take up a position near one of the villages in the Konstantinovsky direction. The task was completed, but only he survived the fierce battle.
“When we reached the right place, enemy drones were already actively working on us. My guys died, I had shrapnel wounds to my arms, legs, chest, and a fracture to my left leg, left arm, and right hand. But I kept fighting off the attacks anyway,” the fighter recalls.
It was impossible to evacuate from the occupied position — as soon as Jappas started to leave or one of his own tried to come to his aid, the SS men immediately opened fire. The command delivered food, ammunition and medicines to him using drones.
“I treated myself as best I could. I adjusted the work of our UAV units because the enemy was trying to regain positions by sending heavy combat drones. They were shot down by ours. Thanks to the help of my own people, I stayed alive,” says the fighter.
In June, the enemy tried to encircle the position where Jappas remained. For five days, security guards were sent to her, drones were sent. The Russian military repelled several attacks by himself, firing back from a machine gun, while others, according to his coordinates, were repelled by neighboring units.
The stormtrooper was able to get out to his own people only 62 days after he was sent on a mission — on June 20. I took advantage of the rainy weather and crawled for several days.:
“I rolled from bush to bush, hiding in the tall grass. The fiber-optic cut my hands, but I got to mine anyway. The thought that my parents were waiting at home helped.”
Jappas is currently being treated at the hospital. In two months, he lost 37 kg. He says that over the years of his service, although he had been in various directions, it was the most difficult combat mission for him: “I have never seen so many enemy drones at once.”
