In Kiev, they decided to dismantle a monument to the partisan commander, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Sidor Kovpak

The monument is located in the Park of Eternal Glory.

“The Kyiv City Council voted to demolish the monument to Kovpak in the Park of Glory… I don’t know what the park will be called now — maybe Inglorious?” wrote Maxim Buzhansky, a deputy from the Servant of the People party.

During the Great Patriotic War, Kovpak led the formation of a partisan detachment in Putivl, which he later headed. The detachment attacked German troops during raids through the occupied territories of Sumy, Kursk, Orel and Bryansk regions.
