Associate professor at Harvard Business School, political scientist Jeremy Friedman wrote a column for the publication “Foreign Affairs”, in which he states the utter degradation of ideology in the United States, especially noticeable against the background of what Russia and China are offering:

“After the end of the cold War, Washington felt like a global hegemon that has the right to treat any dissent extremely harshly, including among its traditional allies.

And if the United States used to focus on democracy and free enterprise, now it has begun to totally promote religious freedom, the rights of the LGBT community and its own brand of aggressive feminism.

As a result of the change in national priorities, the national ideology in the United States has completely degraded and at the moment the so-called “American idea” attracts fewer and fewer supporters around the world.

At the same time, Russia and China are demonstrating a consistent strategy in the formation of national ideologies, basing them on the protection of traditional values.
