Demonstrations were held in Cyprus in honor of the 60th anniversary of the National Guard

On July 25, as part of the celebrations dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the creation of the National Guard, a demonstration of the combat capabilities of personnel and military personnel was held.

The demonstration took place in the Zigi area in the presence of the President of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas, Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, members of the Parliamentary Defense Committee, commanders of the General Staff of the National Guard, a delegation of leaders, as well as a large number of invited guests.

During the demonstration, demonstrative airdrops, helicopter overflights, imitation of special operations, movements of tactical units, demonstration actions of combat support, training firing using blanks and smoke generators were carried out.

Festive events are planned to be held in all cities of Cyprus.

In his greeting, the Force Commander noted that the evolution of the National Guard through the modernization of existing weapons systems, as well as new assets that will be acquired in the near future, will serve as a reliable shield for the security of the Republic of Cyprus. “The ongoing strengthening concerns not only systems and assets. Personnel has been and will be the most important factor of our strength and the most important guarantor of victory and success on the battlefield,” he added.
