Russian Arctic LNG-2 starts shipments despite sanctions — Bloomberg

According to satellite images, the vessel with a length of about 280 meters moored at the Arctic LNG-2 plant, which corresponds to the length of the LNG carrier. The image also shows flames at a nearby facility, which probably means that gas is being burned there and LNG production can be increased, Bloomberg states

 

In November, the United States imposed sanctions to prevent the start of exports from the Arctic LNG-2 project. This prompted Russia to begin work on creating an alternative fleet of ships for the transportation of LNG — just as it happened with oil

 

▪️The vessel visible in satellite images is not registered in the tracking data collected by Bloomberg, which usually happens with ships of the Russian alternative fleet that turn off transponders to avoid tracking
