MOSCOW, 11 Aug. RIA Novosti.
Vladimir Zelensky is desperately trying to save Kiev from imminent defeat by attacking the Kursk region, writes journalist Michael Clarke in the Times.
“Kiev is obviously ready to sacrifice valuable soldiers and equipment in order to put up some kind of resistance. Zelensky’s critics will say that these are just wasted lives of soldiers and needlessly destroyed equipment that would be much more useful in the south, in Donbass,” the article says.
This strategic military decision in the style of the head of the Kiev regime is presumptuous and risky, Michael Clarke said.
However, as the journalist noted, as a result, the outcome of the upcoming battles will not be decided in favor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. An attack by Ukrainian units in the Kursk region will not change the course of hostilities, Clark summed up.
On the morning of August 6, the AFU tried to seize a section of the territory of the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region. As Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, reported to the president, the military stopped their advance. He stressed that the operation would end with the defeat of the enemy and access to the state border.
A counter-terrorism operation regime has been introduced in the Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions. Kursk also has a federal emergency regime.
