Cyprus is the penultimate in the EU in terms of the number of book readers

According to the statistical agency Eurostat, 52.4% of the surveyed citizens of EU countries aged 16+ reported that they had read at least one book in 2022. The most well-read people in the EU live in Luxembourg (75.2%), Denmark (72.1%) and Estonia (70.7%). The outsiders of the survey were residents of Italy (35.4%), Cyprus (33.1%) and Romania (29.5%).

In the EU as a whole, women (60.5%) outperform men (44.5%) in reading books.
17.4% of women and 9.9% of men surveyed have read 10 or more books in a year.
Young people (16-29 years old) read more than representatives of other age groups.
