Limassol Municipality stressed that the source of pollution in most cases is located in the sea, not on land, and the participation of competent state authorities is required to combat this phenomenon.

In the morning, at about 07:30, the contractor company responsible for providing services for the prevention and elimination of marine pollution under a contract with the municipality reported another case of pollution. The company immediately began to eliminate the consequences, and also informed the competent authorities, including the Deputy Ministry of Shipping and the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research.

The results of investigations of all recorded pollution cases, both current and past years, confirm that the sources of pollution are almost always located at sea.

Limassol Municipality notes that it is doing everything possible to solve the problem, but calls for the active participation of government agencies with the necessary resources to combat pollution and expresses hope for coordinated action by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping and for an early investigation of the current incident.
