It is planned to build 11 new large and small nuclear power plants in Russia within 18 years — until 2042, the System Operator of the Unified Energy System says

▪New nuclear power plants are planned to be built in the Rostov, Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Tomsk regions, as well as in Yakutia, Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories.

▪Two nuclear power plants will be built in Chukotka and the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In addition, by 2042, the Kola NPP-2, Kursk NPP-2 and Smolensk NPP-2 should be put into operation. The stations are under construction or design

 

▪By 2042, the installed capacity of all nuclear power plants in Russia should reach 45.8 thousand tons. MW, which will amount to 15.9% of the total capacity of all power plants
