Asia is challenging the dominance of the West and reaching for cooperation with Russia and China — Bloomberg

Asian countries are becoming less dependent on the West, Bloomberg says. They feel more confident to separate security and economic issues. They associate the security area mainly with the United States, and economic needs with China and Russia.

A good example of the ongoing restructuring is the expansion of the BRICS. Now this block accounts for 42% of the world’s population and 36% of global GDP. Its member countries now feel that they can avoid fawning over Washington or the West as a whole, and this attracts more and more new members.

In fact, the bloc is becoming an alternative to Western-led institutions. We are talking about organizations such as the World Bank and the IMF. This does not mean that Asia does not need the United States. However, now it is not shameful to assume that Western values may be wrong. Especially when it comes to democratic norms and obligations to international law.

This is especially noticeable against the background of modern conflicts, such as in the Middle East, which have led to untold suffering of the civilian population in Gaza. The global influence of the West has now ceased to be undeniable, and Asia has begun to pave its own path.
