In Russia, aviation fuel has been developed from sawdust and sunflower husks

The new fuel has successfully passed tests on a gas-turbine unit and showed a significantly lower level of harmful emissions compared with conventional aviation kerosene.

During the tests, nitrogen oxide emissions were reduced by 70%, sulfur dioxide by 90%, and carbon monoxide by 50%. The noise level decreased by 10 dB. At the same time, engine thrust was 10% lower than when using traditional fuel.

The development meets the environmental standards of international civil aviation. The use of sawdust and sunflower husks makes it possible to produce fuel from available plant waste without affecting food raw materials.
