“We cannot survive without Russia” – Georgia marked the anniversary of the signing of the St. George’s Treaty

The Solidarity for Peace Party today laid a wreath at the monument of Georgian Tsar Irakli II and called on the Georgian and Russian authorities to start a dialogue and move towards restoring diplomatic relations.

The Treaty of St. George, an agreement on the patronage and supreme power of the Russian Empire with the united Eastern Georgian kingdom of Kartli, was signed in 1783 on the initiative of Heraclius II.
