Greece has requested assistance from Cyprus in extinguishing severe fires

Severe fires are burning in Attica. Clouds of smoke are rising over Athens. The fight against fire is hampered by high air temperatures, lack of rain and strong winds. On Monday, August 12, the Greek authorities appealed to the Government of the Republic of Cyprus for help.

During the day, a team of firefighters and support staff will be formed in Cyprus, which will travel to Greece next night. According to the Department of Civil Aviation, Sky express airline will carry out the transportation of Cypriot firefighters to Greece for free.
